About Us

 

TackleAfrica uses the power and popularity of football to deliver HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights information and services to young people on football pitches across the continent. We do this by training African football coaches, games teachers and community leaders to use fun, interactive football drills with inbuilt health messaging with young people in their football clubs and communities. As of 2020, we have trained coaches in twelve African countries and we continue to expand and train more each year.   

 

Your Role

 

Working with TackleAfrica’s Regional Programme Manager and Project Officers at local partner organisations, you will provide particular support to our partner organisations’ football coaches and youth leaders. You will develop and advance coaches’ football coaching skills, leadership and communication skills, SRHR and HIV knowledge, group facilitation skills, all of which will enable them to continue to engage young people and focus on specific SRHR and HIV-related issues within their communities. The post holder will be responsible for managing and delivering a football-based education programme, training football coaches to provide sexual health information and beneficial outcomes to young people and key populations. Your support will provide continuing personal and professional development and in-depth support for these coaches, continuing their coach education so that eventually they are able to train and support other coaches from within their communities.

 

Your Profile

 

  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player with a proven ability to work successfully on their own initiative with remote support/supervision 
  • An excellent fit with TackleAfrica’s Values and Behaviours with a willingness to get involved with all areas of operational delivery as well as management 
  • Delivery focussed, well organised with experience of running training programmes
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills 
  • Committed to and enthusiastic about SRHR/HIV education, with knowledge of international development/SRHR/HIV education an advantage 
  • Football Association Level 1 qualified or equivalent qualification is highly desirable
  • Other sports qualifications and sporting experience will also be considered 
  • Computer and internet skills essential  

 

Our Offer

 

The post represents a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic organisation in an exciting period of growth. You will be working alongside staff and volunteers from local East African partner organisations to build and develop football coaching skills, and support football coaches to deliver regular high quality SRHR/HIV education on the pitch to young people and key populations within their communities.

For this position, if an overseas applicant, flights to/from Uganda, accommodation, local travel, work related expenses and a local Living Allowance will be provided.

If Uganda-based, locally competitive salary instead of the Living Allowance is payable, with all work-related costs paid in addition.

Interviews and pre departure training will take place in either Kampala, Uganda or London, UK. Although interviews for suitable candidates may be done remotely via Skype, any travel and accommodation costs to in-person interviews must be borne by the applicant.
