Empowering Congolese communities since 2007.

Malaika (Formally known as the Georges Malaika Foundation) is a grassroots nonprofit that empowers Congolese girls and their communities through education, health and sport programmes. All of our programs are offered completely free of charge. Our work takes three distinct paths. Firstly, the Malaika School is an accredited school that provides a quality education to girls. The goal is to build the leadership capacity of each student so that she gives back to her community and has a positive, long-term impact on the future of the DRC. Secondly, we impact the surrounding village through our Community Centre, which provides education, health and sports programming to thousands of youths and adults per year. The goal of the Kalebuka Football for Hope Centre is to provide youth in the community with the tools so they can improve the quality of their lives and achieve self-sufficiency. Finally, we provide essential infrastructure through the construction of wells that supply people with clean water, directly reducing water-related illnesses.

"Two years ago, I heard about a place where you can learn for free. I begged my parents to let me go to the Centre. Now I’ve learned how to express myself and my dreams have changed – there is so much I want to do with my life."
